The changing of the seasons from summer to fall is my favorite time of year. Something about the crisp air sparks a sense of nostalgia. I dream of pumpkin spice lattes, a thick wool coat, everything cashmere, knee-high boots, and the excitement of holiday season. A religious habit of mine is an annual cleanse. I go through my closet and clear out all of my spring and summer clothing, bringing my fall/winter clothing to the forefront. I put away my linens, mini dresses, and sandals to make way for my coveted cold weather wardrobe.

It is really easy to spend money when transitioning. With the mass marketing of “transition wardrobes” and new microtrends on social media, the best of us can be convinced to buy a trendy piece. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with buying something trendy, but we should always try to keep our consumption in check, making sure that we are doing our part by supporting sustainable fashion brands and thrifting vintage pieces. Remember, what comes around goes around; everything comes back into trend after a couple of trend cycles. We are seeing the resurgence of leopard print, suede, and denim-on-denim. All of these items probably exist in your wardrobe!

I am a big believer in splurging on basics (obvi, you’re reading on The Basic Belle)! I have tons of clothing, but there are definitely key piece that I’ve acquired over the past 5 years that I always reach for in the fall. My favorite luxury splurges for the fall are always high-quality, durable, classic, and elegant pieces that upgrade my outfit time and time again.

Source Unknown – Ennio Faux-Leather Bomber Jacket, Mahogany

This mahogany, worn bomber is even more beautiful in person than online. It comes in one size, with a perfect oversized shoulder and cinched elastic waistband. I am a true size small and it fits perfect! I get compliments every single time I wear it out. Perfect for fall!

Balenciaga – Le City Medium Bag

This bag has stood the test of time and will forever be a classic. My bag is actually my mom’s, who bought it 20 years ago. It comes distressed, but as you keep wearing it, it gets more personalized to how you wear it. The “beat-up” bag look is huge, and this bag can definitely complete your grunge look. Look on The Real Real and other resell sites to find it at a deal!

Loro Piana – Calfskin Kilda Boots

Loro Piana, the king of quiet luxury, has some of the highest quality items. Given that their speciality is ultra-fine cashmere/wool, it makes sense that they make my favorite fall items. These tall, equestrian boots are perfect to complete your rich girl aesthetic. #iykyk

Lisa Yang – Abby cashmere cardigan

Lisa Yang is a great brand to purchase high quality cashmere from. You may know them for their Danni cardigan, which viral for being a Khaite cardigan dupe. I personally love her all of her sweaters; I have the Danni, the Abby, and the Heidi. I can wear this with a light coat on top, and it provides all the warmth that I need to get through my day.

Isabel Marant – Oskan Moon Bag

This bag is having a huge moment right now. I actually purchased this over a year ago, at a big discount because it was not selling! Mine is slightly different than the one shown; my oskan bag is made of pebbled leather rather than smooth leather which I prefer more. It looks more expensive that way in my opinion. But, this bag has been a staple in my wardrobe. You can change it from a shoulder bag to a crossbody by adjusting the strap. I wear it while traveling, out at bars, and on walks. Isabel Marant has released this bag in suede and other new styles that are more trendy if that is what you are looking for!

Toteme – Embroidered scarf jacket black

You know this jacket. If you haven’t seen it, you have to have been living under a rock for the past two years. I’ll admit, I impulsively purchased it because the influencers were influencing. But, I’m happy to admit that it truly is timeless. I chose all black, because I think it is less trendy than the other color ways have been so I won’t get tired of it. I am not opposed to dupes; but, trust me, the viral dupes are not remotely close to the original. The silhouette is hard to mimic because it is so heavy-duty and thick. Tip: Purchase the coat after the winter on SSENSE; it usually goes on sale. I got mine for $790 this way!

Loro Piana – Grande Unita Scarf

Can you tell I am a Loro Piana stan? These cashmere scarves… I die for them. They are so soft, so warm, so lightweight. Just absolute perfection. The Grande Unita is my favorite, and they can be found at the outlets if you check often! Another style I love is the Opposite Duo Scarf; it’s cashmere perfection with dual sided colors. These scarves will forever and forever be in my closet; I hope to have all the colors one day!

Aeyde – Uma Leather Mary Jane Flats

Another staple. I usually hate flats; they give me blisters and I’m not strong enough to break them in. But these flats are soft, flexible, and easy to wear. I wore them for the first time in New York City and walked over 10,000 steps in them with a small blister in the back of my heel. Not bad! Since then, I can wear them for hours on end with no pain. They are so cute, high quality, and on trend! I purchased them 2 years ago, and they used to be $290 in the states. Buy them now before they keep increasing the price! Aeyde has really established itself as a high quality leather footwear company and I only see them growing from now on.

Burberry – Long Kensington Heritage Trench Coat

Last but not least, the famous Burberry Trench coat. This style has been in trend for years for a reason. The construction of this trench is effortlessly beautiful and feminine. Every fall since I was in high school, I have worn a trench coat. Now that I have big girl money, I was able to buy the Burberry trench and do not regret it one bit! Perfect for a crisp, cold morning or even a rainy afternoon, as it is warm and water-resistant! Tip: Purchase a used coat on TRR, you can find a ton for $500 or less!

No matter what, fashion is how you define it! Fashion spans person, personality, and society. These are just some of my favorite luxury purchases in the past couple of years that I know I will wear for the rest of my life. Thanks for reading and supporting!

XX,

Isabelle
